Runner

Over the weekend the C-folks took C-bao to a park, initially to bike. C-bao has only had a few experiences with a slightly-too-large bicycle (with training wheels - which has not prevented her from tilting over multiple times). Her comfort level is still quite low. Let's just say that they have not been the most glorious of experiences.

After a forgetful bit of biking, the family decided to burn a few joules on the nearby paved track. Once off the wheels and back on her feet, C-bao regained her confidence as an athlete.

Indeed, the C-folks have observed that our little one is a steady and even surprisingly fast runner. After seeing C-Pop run a lap - probably a 300 meter loop - C-bao was the first in the family to ask to run it herself, timed. She completed it in ~2:40, never stopping once.

After C-Mum and sister K-bao went, she wanted to do it again! This time, she improved her time, down to 2:27. C-Pop and C-Mum were duly impressed.

At the end, the girls all raced together. C-bao ran a third lap without stopping and again equaled her time of 2:27.

Go

Go, C-bao, go!

Just another example of how quickly time flies. It's been only a couple of years since the below pic, from when she couldn't even hold her head up without help, to now when she is bravely attacking a slide from the wrong direction.

A Water Story

K: "It's not that cold, I promise you! It's a lot of fun! C'mon!"

C: "Ok, sis. I trust you."

K: "See, I'll even take you there myself."

C: "Tricked! Bamboozled!"

Sumo

Occasionally, C-bao's sister K-bao likes to initiate a little rough 'n tumble. C-bao doesn't back down; in fact she welcomes it and is happy to throw her weight around.

Here are the siblings at the park last weekend.

Scoot

C-bao is just about old enough to try out sister K-bao's scooter. Soon she will undoubtedly be zipping around and demanding her own ride.

Here she gets her first lessons from C-Mum at the park.

Her head size hasn't quite caught up yet to the helmet but she gamely pressed ahead despite her limited visibility.

"Look! On my own! Though I can't see"

Well Parked

C-bao is a park aficionado. Park-hopper, one might call her. She is well acquainted with all of the major recreational areas in San Francisco, and rotates among them regularly.

Metal slides, plastic slides, Golden Gate's stone slide - she's tried them all. Wooden structures, rubber structures, stainless steel - C-bao's an equal opportunity climber, though her temperament is naturally cautious and she usually takes her time getting to know the potential pitfalls.

However, she is at the stage where she naturally wants to do everything herself, and can get quite frustrated when an unwelcome helping hand is thrust in her direction. "I do myself!" she might even exclaim in fobby English. If that's not properly complied with, "我要自己來!" comes quickly next. Don't you understand English, Pop??

Bounce

C-bao jumps on the buggy bouncer at the park with sister K-bao. Predictably, craziness and some head-bumping ensue.

Pops

Happy Father's Day! C-bao celebrates C-Pop by taking him (and sister K-bao) to froyo, and then chasing him around at the park. Great day all around.

Bubbles

Little C-bao, who is just shy of two years old now, has a poetic soul. Yesterday she saw some bubbles floating in the sky, and contemplatively recited the following rhyme:

小妹妹
吹泡泡
大泡泡
小泡泡
一個一個天上漂
太陽公公抱一抱

Park

Given her newfound mobility, being on a playground is a whole lot more fun for C-bao now. She usually visits various neighborhood parks generally at least once and usually twice a day.

Here she is making a new friend. C-bao tends to be quite touchy.

Later in the afternoon C-bao donned a new outfit and tried out a different park, where she pet rocks and stone turtles, sat on a bench (inexplicably, one of her favorite activities) and messed around in the sandbox.

Swing High

Daddy-daugher date at the park on a sunny Saturday. C-bao enjoys the swing at this age much like her sister.

Swing Low

C-bao got so comfortable swinging in the sun over at Alta Plaza park the other day that she dozed off. First time the C-folks have seen that happen, with any kid.
