Sun & Sweets

C-bao absolutely loved her time in Mexico. Then again, with endless amounts of good food, sun, swimming and family all around, what was there not to love?

Here are a few moments in the sun with her various family members, including sister K-bao, her cousins J-Cuz and K-K, and various uncles and aunties.

While C-bao hasn't fully embraced the water, she enjoys splashing around, as long as she is safely sitting on the stair or C-Pop is around to hold her.

Of course, the best part of it was the unlimited dessert!

Hot

If there's one thing Taiwan is justly famous for, it is the overbearing heat. Along with the 100% humidity, walking around outside feels like wearing a wet blanket.

The upside of course is that C-bao got to wear cool shades and cute tank top outfits pretty much the whole time.

To escape the heat for the first few days the clan had a few dips in the swimming pool. Even C-Mum made an unlikely appearance, and splashed around in the kiddy pool for about five minutes.

Vigorous swimming in turn inevitably led to some very sound naps.

Pool Party

C-bao took a trip last week down to Uncle Calvin's (Xiao Jiu) place in the south bay. It was a scorching hot day, and C-bao joined her family for a dip. While she hasn't historically been much of a water gal, after seeing sister K-bao having fun splashing about, she was eventually convinced to get in the water, and ended up having quite a bit of fun. The below -- her doggy paddling on two noodles -- is as independently as she's ever swum. Baby steps.

(The water gun squirt halfway through is, of course, sister K-bao, who was trying to make sure it wasn't getting too easy for little sis)

Not to take any shots lying down, here's C-bao flexing back at big sis.

By the way, at 3 years old, C-bao has now swum all over the world. Below are a couple of action shots from her trip to Singapore late last year.

Heliophobia

As the daughter of someone who is a well-known heliophobe (has "fear of the sun") - and let's just say it's not C-Pop - C-bao manages to maintain her milky-white complexion no matter what the level of photovoltaics out there.

Here C-bao takes a dip in a pool in blazing hot Redding, CA in full full sun-protection regalia, looking more like a farmer getting ready for airstrikes by enemy drones than a casual swimmer trying to cool down.

"Please tell me there's noone here I know"

Sisters

With a feisty and affectionate older sister to emulate, play with and test her wits against all of her life, little C-bao is one lucky little gal. It has been a joy for the C-folks to see the two little ones grow up together, despite the many - many - challenges of keeping the two civil and well-behaved with each other.

Here is C-bao enjoying a sip of water while her sister braids her hair:

Being strolled around town:

Learning the not-too-difficult act of riding a wooden horse from her sister:

Getting a swim lesson:

Singing "Let it GOOOOOOO!" together:

A Dip

"Hooray! Going swimming!"

"I like beach balls and I cannot lie."

"Less posing, more swimming."

"Not going as fast as I think we should be, for some reason."

"I did great! Just like my sister K-bao."
