Farmer's Market

C-bao checked out the local farmer's market after church last weekend. Dressed in her Sunday church outfit, C-bao wandered the stalls trying out local produce and treats.

Here she is getting a smooch from C-Pop.

Sabbath

Last Sunday was a typical Sabbath for our little one. C-bao awoke bright and early and got herself ready for church, which over the summer has temporarily relocated to the beautiful Sherith Israel on California Street.

By the way, over the last month or so C-bao has finally (finally!) settled in to the drop-off routine with minimal fuss, and after an obligatory "You'll be back?" will now generally wave goodbye and obediently join the rest of her Sunday School buddies, albeit with a few sad looks. This somewhat new development has been a huge relief for the C-folks and a big step forward for our little one.

After church, lunch was enjoyed at Bun Mee on Fillmore Street, as shown above. C-bao tried a few bites of more adventurous fare - C-Pop's Caramel Citrus Rice Bowl - before settling in to her tried and true vermicelli dish.

Given the nice day outside, the fam decided to trek all the way home on foot afterwards. Full of zest, C-bao marched without complaint the several miles home, and still had plenty of energy to complete some fun workbook pages before bathtime, dinner and bed. All in all a restful Sabbath day ahead of a jam-packed week of summer camp.

Reading Time

On a quiet Sunday, C-bao waits patiently with her sister K-bao for the C-folks to get ready for church. The sisters pass the time by reading Dr. Seuss.

Unable quiet yet to make out any words, or frankly to speak any English, C-bao nonetheless gamely mumbles aloud a string of random syllables she hopes sounds vaguely like English while she checks out the colorful pics.

Soon will the come the day - not too far off, we hope! - when the two sisters will sit side by side, engrossed in Judy Bloom, Beverly Cleary, Roald Dahl, and then C.S. Lewis,  J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien and many others. Magical times await.

Church

C-bao hangs out at church with friends Sam and Emily. Lots of play and snacks, not much worshipping going on.

Reality

Here is little C-bao praising the Lord with C-Mum in Sunday School at RealitySF.

Actually, that was the aspirational reality; the real reality is that she spent her time jamming random toys and carpet fuzz in her mouth in between demanding to be held. Hopefully she gets more worshipful over time.

Church

C-bao made her first visit to church this weekend. Not being the instinctively pious type, she got bored halfway through the sermon (no fault of Pastor Dave! He was doing great) and began to demand an audience, at which point C-Pop was relegated to a quiet corner of the church by the nursery to rock 'n read instead of listening to God's word.
